17675

Post your observations about the day's conditions - like hot Sporadic-E openings, or perhaps the complete shutdown of the HF spectrum due to a solar flare. This is the place to share your reports on the "real world" conditions.

Yesterday (Sept. 07, 2004) I listened to New Zealand on and off all day.
Today ... NADA !!

What frequency were you listening to?

I looked at the Kp and Ap figures from 7 to 10 September. There was a little bit of an active geomagnetic condition on the 7th, but things were mostly quiet the following days. There were not major flares, either. And, flux was reasonable for mid-HF spectrum propagation.

Where are you living? What frequencies are in question?

What about other stations? What was the general condition of the band that you were tuned to? Was there a lot of noise?

The freq was 17675, as clearly indicated in the title bar of the original report. My QTH is Greater Vancouver, B.C. Since the radio was tuned to the freq all day and well into the evening I don't know what condx were on other freqs, especially after the time interval between my report and your msg. Incidentally, the station is on 17675 right now ((02:05) with lots of fading from a max of S4. ve7afn.

Duh! I should've seen that... :)

Well, I am just south of you. In looking at the general flux readings and other data, I think it is just a matter of a weak path - the frequency schedule from RNI states that they are aiming at 0 degrees - so I am having to assume that local geomagnetic disturbances might have played in degrading the signal path.

However, I don't see that in the data.
