CW is AWESOME!

I see forum after forum on the internet of folks who feel it's their duty to get on and bash CW with both fists. Thank goodness that is not happening on this forum! :)

Ya know...no one has a gun to anyone's head forcing them to use CW.

People use CW because they want to.

If you look at the results of CW contests, the number of participants isn't falling. If you listen to the CW portions of the HF bands, there are plenty of stations on CW.

If I had my choice of modes of AM, FM, SSB, and CW...when the noise is high, there is QRM 20+ 4 kHz away, and the band is going south, I'll pick CW anyday.
CW is the only mode that gets through the mess.

I lived in Washington state for a number of years... out in the Puget Sound area.

One breezy and sunny days, you could see a lot of sail boats out on the water, piloted around for pleasure.

Sails are old technology. Obsolete. Yet, still very much enjoyed.

CW is like a language. I think it'd never go out of fashion amongst those who appreciate the depth of pleasure gained from 'speaking' this unique language. Effective, like sails on a sail boat...

If you get on some forums on this internet world and say anything positive about CW would find yourself fumbling around the floor looking for your head.

I very much appreciate that there is a different atmosphere here, Thomas, and I attribute a lot of that to you personally.

I like your analogy. It's all about enjoying your hobby in the way YOU want to enjoy it.

There are those who just HAVE to have the newest cutting edge radio and use the newest, most cutting edge modes.

There are those who use CW on a tube radio...and smile when they hear the sound of the swinging "accent" of bug sent CW.

I still have yet to get into PSK, Olivia, and the other new digital modes--and only just bought my first 6 Meter radio after 26 years of being a ham.

There's just not enough time on this big blue marble Thomas--not enough time.

Good on you Bruce,

I agree with you entirely, CW is not everyone's way to communicate but for those who love it there is nothing else.

A couple of websites that support Morse Code are:

Another great video of some fantastic CW is :

Have a great day,
