DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME (DST). Remember to change your clocks next weekend.
Countries in the Northern Hemisphere (most of N. American and some of
the Caribbean) who observe Daylight Saving Time, should change their
clocks on Sunday, March 8th at 2:00 AM, and should move their 'local
clocks' forward 1 hour to 3:00:00 AM local time. Daylight Saving Time
will end on Sunday, November 1st at 2:00 AM. European countries will
switch to DST on March 29th. For the history and details about DST,
as well as an interesting map of the world (showing the countries who
observe DST), see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_timewww.timeanddate.com/time/dst/2015.html
ADDED NOTES: Hopefully, all amateur radio operators know not to change
their GMT/UTC/ZULU clocks. However, since most operators usually set their
computers to local time, some may have to change their settings on 'some'
ham radio software (ex. logging, propagation, DXTelnet, etc..) programs.
E3, ERITREA. If you missed OPDX Special Bulletin #OPDX.1103.1, the SEISA/
Foundation for Global Children announced that their next activity, the

(Co-Leader), Franz/DJ9ZB, Jay/JA1TRC, Yuki/JH1NBN, Kazu/JH1OGX, Thomas/NQ7R,
David/WD5COV and Dmitri/RA9USU. This DXpedition has taken many months of
careful planning and negotiations. The DXpedition's callsign will be
assigned to them upon their arrival in the capital of Asmara. They will
use four transceivers consisting of two Elecraft K3 radios with the KPA500
amplifiers and two Kenwood TS590 transceivers with the ACOM 1010 amplifiers.
They will use beam antennas for the high bands (10-20 meters) and four
verticals for the low bands (30-160 meters). They will try to work every
area as much as possible. QSL Manager is Tim, M0URX. To see the complete
press release, go to: papays.com/opdx1203.1.html
E6, NIUE. Members and operators of the UK group '6-G', most of whom formed
the TX6G (Austral) expedition in 2014, will be active from Niue for two
weeks in the second half of September 2015. The team will be comprised of
Don/G3BJ, Chris/G3SVL, Nigel/G3TXF, David/G3WGN, Mike/G3WPH, Hilary/G4JKS
and Justin/G4TSH. Look for more details to be forthcoming.
FT4TA STORY AND BOOK. Sebastien, F5UFX, reports -- Dear friends,
Our emissions from Tromelin stopped a few months ago. Since, we have been
very busy by many subjects. You undoubtedly read the news of our QSL cards
(in progress), our equipment boxes are on the way back, we have been able
to debrief on several occasions with the TAAF.
We are happy to show you today the complete report of our expedition.
For each operation, stories are very often quite similar. It is difficult
in a few lines not to be limited to the banalities of the antenna setup,
the conditions of propagation, and some statistics. We choose to write a
report which would tell in details all that one would like to know in
connection with such adventure: the =AB behind the scenes' of FT4TA !
In these days with of DQRM, anonymous and nasty comments, it does not
exist a better answer than explaining, and try to sensitize, show the
work done for a so ambitious project.
For the others, a large majority, organizers of expeditions themselves,
those who would like to start a project, or DX lovers, let us hope that
our story will make you dream.
Please follow the link bellow to consult the online book of FT4TA:
French version: blur.by/1KGFCIT
English version blur.by/1LziqfS
It is also possible to order the =AB printed =BB version.
This communication will probably be one of the last for this project.
Thanks again for your support and see you soon for new adventures.....

K1N SATELLITE QSOS. A special K1N Satellite QSL will be made for their
satellite contacts/QSOs. To order one, go to ClubLog and process a QSL
under K1N/SAT log. They are only charging 1 USD for these QSLs, but an
additional contributions can be made if you wish. You will need to change
the callsign in your log 'temporarily' to K1N/SAT in order for this to
work: https://secure.clublog.org/logsearch/K1N/SAT
Cards ordered in this way cannot be combined with your regular K1N QSL.
Regular K1N QSLs (OQRS) is found at:
https://secure.clublog.org/logsearch/K1N
Or, you can send in the old fashioned way (SNAIL Mail), but they suggest
including a special separate card clearly marked as SATELLITE QSO (it
can be in the same envelope as your regular K1N QSL), if you use the
direct mail method with an SASE. =

MESSAGE FROM THE PW0F TEAM (Sunday, March 1st). Just before going to
print, Martti, OH2BH, sent the following [edited]: 'Hello from Miami
Airport enroute to Cayman Islands with lost luggage... Yes the PW0F team
left Recife, Brazil, on Saturday but luggage did not. The Amateur Radio
equipment always generates many security concerns but among the critical
items went all pink underwear of the much anticipated science element
of the effort. Highly interesting results have surfaced for those who
plan to take on a radio trip. With some 12,000 PW0F QSOs on selected
bands those 160M QSOs were hard with rain and noise at PW0F location
right in the middle of village. OQRS is opened on Sunday for those for
PW0F QSLs. ZF2BH will hit airwaves later on this week.'
MJ, JERSEY. Kazu, JK3GAD, will be active as MJ0CFW from Jersey (EA-013)

NCDXF PRESS RELEASE (Grant for South Sandwich & South Georgia) [edited].
The Northern California DX Foundation is pleased to announce a major grant
of $50,000 to the Intrepid-DX Group for their plans to activate TWO Top
Ten DXCC entities during January & February of 2016. At that time, South
Sandwich Island will be #3 and South Georgia will be #7 on The Most Wanted
List.
These destinations are very remote and costly to reach. The Braveheart
has been chartered for the voyage. Fourteen team members will contribute
half of the $425,000 projected budget. The team plans to be on each island
for ten days with eight full days on the air.
Without grants of this type, many of the most wanted entities would not
be possible to activate.
Individual contributions to NCDXF have enabled us to make this grant
possible. Contributions to NCDXF are tax-deductible, to the extent of
U.S. law. See <www.ndxdf.org> for details.
Glenn Johnson, W0GJ -- NCDXF, vice president

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE <www.bandconditions.com>:
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called 'HF Ionospheric Interferometry'
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

VP8/G & VP8/SS, SOUTH GEORIGA and SOUTH SANDWICH ISLANDS (Press Release -
An update from the Intrepid-DX Group VP8 DXpedition Team). The Intrepid-DX
Group is very pleased to receive a major grant of $50,000 from the Northern
California DX Foundation to support our plans to activate South Sandwich
and South Georgia Islands in January/February 2016. At the time of these
activations, they will be the #3 and #7 most wanted entities.
It is only through the generosity of amateur organizations such as the
NCDXF that we can make this Dxpedition possible. This grant by the NCDXF
gives us the foundation with which we can solidify our plans and move
forward with successful activations of these rare islands.
Our destination is very remote and costly to reach. Our Braveheart
charter is $310,000. Our fourteen team members will contribute $210,000
towards our goal of $425,000. We are very appreciative of all of those
Clubs, Associations and individuals that have supported us thus far and
we welcome and appreciate each and every donation that helps us move
forward with our plans.
Our objective is to be on each island for ten days with eight full days
QRV. We ask each DX Club or Association to please consider supporting our
efforts to make this an effective, enjoyable and safe Dxpedition for
everyone!
You can view our website at www.intrepid-dx.com/vp8
Thank you,
The Intrepid-DX Group VP8 Team.

antenna). He will also be on 60 meters CW due to the newly modified

WEB PAGE OF INTEREST. Jari/OH2BU and Bernd/DF3CB, have compiled and posted
a 'Mega DXpeditions Honor Roll' listing which is hosted on the German DX
Foundation (GDXF) Web page at: gdxf.de/megadxpeditions
There are currently 230 DXpeditions with more than 30,000 QSOs in the
Honor Roll from 136 different DXCC Entities and 31 of the 40 CQ Zones.
The complete list of DXpeditions (containing some 40 DXpeditions, in the
late 1990s) is sorted by the number of achieved QSOs - and by year of
activity, by Prefix, by DXCC Entities, by Continent, by Single-Operator
DXpeditions and much more..... The World Records page shows the leading
DXpeditions in the categories of the highest number of total QSOs, QSOs
per mode and band and per continent. Give it a look see, and they feel
you will enjoy this Web page.
WRTC2014 (Documentary Video). The WRTC2014 Organizing Committee reports,
'The official documentary video for WRTC2014 is now available on the Web!
The video was produced by James Brooks, 9V1YC, and runs approximately
59 minutes. James took advantage of nine roving video teams to capture
high definition footage of action at headquarters and out in the field,
artfully telling the WRTC2014 story using the participants' own words.
View the video at: https://vimeo.com/119947598
Funding for video production was provided by a generous grant from the
Northern California DX Foundation.
The video is being distributed from the Web at no charge. We plan to
make a downloadable version available in the near future to help facili-
tate use at club meetings.'
