Presented annually, the Cass Award encourages DXpeditions to maximize
the number of DXers worked with a $1000 prize for the Single-Operator

This award honors the wisdom and spirit of Cass WA6AUD (SK), whose stories
in the West Coast DX Bulletin taught a generation of DXers that DX IS!

AS-172. Members of the Russian Robinson Club (RRC), Vasily/R7AL and
Vasily/R6AL, will be active as R7AL/0 from Malminskiye Islands
(RRA RR-13-11), (which is a very rare island group located in =
the Sea of Okhotsk, and claimed only by 8.3% of IOTA partici-
pants) for 3 days sometime between August 8-16th. These Rocks
are located far away from civilization, the nearest and only
one settlement is Ayan, 40 Km. away from the Rocks. Since there
is no vessel available, the only way to land on the Rocks is
by a small fishing motorboat. It will take two trips (80 Km)
to deliver all the equipment and operators to the island.
Flights to Ayan are not regular and depends on weather conditions
(heavy fogs almost 6 days a week), but if the weather is
unfavorable, they state that the operators will wait as long
as they can. Their plans are for a 500 watts station into a VDA
and Vertical antennas. Since this is an IOTA expedition, focus
will be on 2 bands only. They voted for 20 and 17 meters, but
it's not confirmed yet and a subject for discussion. Modes
will be CW and SSB only. QSL via the OQRS on ClubLog for both
direct and Bureau cards. Direct QSL are via R6AL with SAE and
2 USDs. Any NEWS/UPDATES will be published on their Web site
which is still under construction at: as172.yolasite.com

Scottish Inner Hebrides in 2015. Ten operators will be active
on all bands and many modes from 4m to 80m, 2m & 70cm for
Satellites and 2m & 23cm for EME. The HF bands will be covered
by four simultaneous stations, while the 6m & 4m stations will
have a great take-off towards the UK and Europe from the island's
eastern edge in IO76EJ square. All stations will be able to run
at the full UK power limit. EME operations will use 150W to 55
elements on 23cm and 400W to 17 elements on 2m, primarily on
JT65 but also available for CW skeds - if your station is big
enough. Satellite operations on 2m & 70cm will use X-Quad anten-
nas and a fully automatic Az/El tracking system. Activity is
planned on AO-7 (mode B), VO-52, FO-29, SO-50 & AO-73. All the
up-to-date plans and progress will be on <dx.camb-hams.com>.
Most importantly, this is a group of good friends doing what
they enjoy, so please give them a call and enjoy the trip with
them. Active on the major social networks before, during and

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE <www.bandconditions.com>:
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called 'HF Ionospheric Interferometry'
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.
