CY9C, ST. PAUL ISLAND DXPEDITION (Update). The following update was posted
on the CY9C Web page on November 9th [edited]: As 2016 quickly approaches,
focus on DXpedition planning details intensifies. All is going very well
as we continue to develop the operating plan, site plan, and plans for
getting equipment and personnel onto the island. We thank the many that
have responded to the 'NEED' SURVEY on the website. (ed. See the following
at: www.cy9dxpedition.com/need-survey.html )
A serious effort is being planned to address those specific needs --
The other matter is financial planning. In the relatively near future
we'll need to secure the transportation to the island. Those that have
donated are listed on the Sponsor's list on the Web page at:
www.cy9dxpedition.com/news--sponsors.html
No amount is too small; all who donate will receive a QSL automatically
without having to request one. The team is fully committed and investing
significantly; your financial support will help and is appreciated more
than words can express.
The single most expensive item is the cost for the transportation to
access the island. Donations can be made via this link: =
www.cy9dxpedition.com/donate.html
(If desired, more details / info on this matter, contact: N0TG - E-mail
address per QRZ.com).

Single-Op/Single-Band (??m) entry. QSL both callsigns via K2PF (OQRS on
ClubLog is the better way).
DXERS BE AWARE!!! (DXpeditioners are getting fed-up) For those who plan
on working the VK9WA Willis Island and the possible P5CW (by Rick/K6VVA),
'PLEASE TAKE NOTE' of Paul's, N6PSE, latest blog post at:

DX MAGAZINE'S MOST WANTED SURVEY COME TO AN END. Carl Smith, N4AA, editor
of QRZ DX and the DX Magazine, announced this past week [edited]: 'For
the past few years I have been comparing the DX Magazine survey results
with the one available from Michael Wells, G7VJR, on his ClubLog Web site
<https://secure.clublog.org>. I should note here that Michael was inducted
into the CQ DX Hall of Fame in May 2015 honoring him for his service to
the DX community. The two results have consistently closely paralleled
each other. After serious consideration, it seemed to me that the ClubLog's
Most Wanted information would adequately serve the DX community. The one
conducted by The DX Magazine would not offer enough difference to justify
the cost in time, or money, for it to continue. I want to thank the
thousands of DXers, world-wide, who have supported The DX Magazine survey
for the past 25 years. You have provided your fellow DXers with a valuable
tool and I believe I can speak for at least most of them in saying THANK
YOU. The DX Magazine <www.dxpub.net/DX-Magazine.html> will con-
tinue to provide DXers with the stories of DXpeditioners traveling to the
far reaches of the earth to provide you with those cherished contacts from
rare and exotic places. I want to encourage the organizers/leaders of
those DXpeditions to continue offering their stories. By telling others,
who, what, where, when and how you made that operation possible, the story
can be the final chapter of the DXpedition. It might also inspire others
to make the effort to organize their own DXpedition, or to at least make
a donation to the next major DXpedition.'
OPDX EDITOR'S COMMENTS: I have known Carl for many years and would like
to personally thank him for his hard work and many years of putting the
'Most Wanted Survey List' together each year. It will surely be missed...

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE <www.bandconditions.com>:
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called 'HF Ionospheric Interferometry'
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.
PU0R/PY0R, FERNANDO DE NORONHA ISLANDS (Update). Due to last minute
personal issues, Renner, PY7RP, one of the operators for the upcoming
Atol das Rocas (SA-038) Dxpedition had to give up his trip to the island.

to Atol das Rocas, and is expected to be active as PU0R/PU0FDN late on
Sunday ( November 15th). Activity will last until November 21st. As his
amateur radio novice license permits, he will be active on 10 and 12
meters SSB only. No activity on CW is expected. His activity will be
sporadic during non-work time hours. Since Marenga is a novice amateur
radio operator, we kindly ask you patience during the pile-ups. For

S9, SAO TOME AND PRINCIPE (Update). Bruno, HB9BEI, who is currently in
Brazil and is active as PY7ZBK during the winter months, informs OPDX
that he will be active as S9BK (requested) from Sao Tome and Principe (STP)
between February 25th and March 25th (2016). Bruno states, 'The flights
and accommodations are booked to STP. The license was orally granted, but
have to be picked up personally upon arrival. This will be a one man -
Holiday-stile DXpedition. Arriving at STP February 25th and leaving March
25th. If possible, I will stay another 14 days, but this is not granted
yet. Expect me to be active on all bands from 40-10m mainly on SSB and
on the Digital modes. As I am a very poor CW operator, I will not annoy
the DX community with my bad CW..... Rig will be an ICOM IC7200, Jumla
1KW amplifier (if the Finnish OM's are able to deliver one on time), with
an antenna dipole for 40m and a fold-able antenna for the bands 20-10m.
Hope that everything will be running smooth and that I am able to contact
a lot of stations on the air from STP.' QSL via his home callsign.
V4, ST. KITTS (NA-104). Andy, N2NT, will once again be active as V47NT
from the QTH of V47KP between November 23-30th. Activity will include the
CQWW DX CW Contest (November 28-29th) signing as V47T and as a Single-Op/
All-Band/High-Power entry. QSL via W2RQ.
VK9WA WILLIS ISLAND DXPEDITION NEWS (Update/Reminder). The international
team of operators are now active as VK9WA from Willis Islets until November
23rd. The on-air operations will last 10 days with high power on CW, SSB,
and RTTY on 160-10 meters (possibly 6 meters). Their primary focus will
be providing all time new contacts with this highly demanded, rarely
activated entity with an emphasis on difficult paths - primarily US East
Coast, Europe, and Africa. QSL via N7SMI, direct or by the Bureau. Use
ClubLog's OQRS for direct or Bureau QSLs is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. QSL
cards will be a beautiful full-color photo. QSLing priority is listed
on their Web page. ClubLog's OQRS will be available shortly after the
conclusion of the DXpedition. All QSOs will be uploaded to LoTW and eQSL
shortly after the operation. Complete details can be found on their Web
page <vk9wa.com>. PLEASE NOTE: READ ABOVE - 'DXERS BE AWARE!!!'
YASME PRESS RELEASE (Date November 13th). THE YASME FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES
YASME EXCELLENCE AWARD TO N1MM+ DEVELOPMENT TEAM -- The Board of Directors
is pleased to announce that it has awarded the Yasme Excellence Award to
the N1MM+ Development Team: Tom Wagner, N1MM; Rick Ellison, N2AMG; Steve
London, N2IC; John Bednar, K3CT; Nikolay Safronov, NA3M; Pete Smith, N4ZR;
Andreas Hofman, KU7T; Larry Gauthier, K8UT; and Richard Ferch, VE3KI.
The initial N1MM Classic is a sophisticated logging program offered at no
cost to contesters around the world. N1MM+ is a major revision to the
original program and was a completely volunteer effort of thousands of
programmer-hours to rewrite and test more than 250,000 lines of code.
<www.n1mm.com> The program continues to be made available without charge
and continues to be refined on a regular basis, supported by an extensive
user group and full documentation.
The Yasme Excellence Award is presented to those who, through their own
service, creativity, effort and dedication, have made a significant con-
tribution to amateur radio. The contribution may be in recognition of
technical, operating or organizational achievement, as all three are
necessary for amateur radio to grow and prosper.
The Yasme Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation organized to conduct
scientific and educational projects related to amateur radio, including
DXing (long distance communication) and the introduction and promotion
of amateur radio in developing countries. For additional information
about The Yasme Foundation, visit our website at <www.yasme.org>.
