NCDXF PRESS RELEASE (NCDXF Announces Publication of Martti Laine, OH2BH,
Article on Working DX Pileups -- dated November 20th) [edited]: The
Northern California DX Foundation is pleased and proud to announce that
it has published a Special Edition of the NCDXF Newsletter consisting of
an article by legendary DXer and DXpeditioner Martti Laine, OH2BH, on
working DXpedition pileups. Martti=92s article, entitled =93It Takes Two to
Tango,=94 reflects Martti=92s lifetime of DXpedition experience, including
the activation of 12 all-time new entities, and sets forth his thoughtful
advice and reflections on how best to handle the pileups of DXers calling
from Europe as well as other parts of the world. In today=92s environment
of stations calling out of turn and deliberate QRM, Martti=92s advice could
not be more timely and is destined to improve and enhance the DX experience
for all. The article is available at the NCDXF website =97 <www.ncdxf.org>.
NCDXF is pleased to make this article available for all. Since its
founding in 1972, NCDXF has become the premier DX foundation in the world
and has funded major DXpeditions to many Most Wanted Entities. In many
cases, the NCDXF grant has made possible the successful activation of
these rare entities. NCDXF is supported by amateurs around the world who
believe in our mission of supporting DXpeditions to rare entities. The
credit for the grants made by NCDXF goes to the NCDXF contributors,
individuals and clubs, who make our grants possible. Have you contributed
yet?

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE <www.bandconditions.com>:
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called 'HF Ionospheric Interferometry'
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

VP8SGI/VP8STI DXPEDITION NEWS (Press Release from the Intrepid-DX Group
VP8STI/VP8SGI Team). Paul, N6PSE, sent out the following on November 17th
[edited]: The VP8STI-South Sandwich, VP8SGI-South Georgia and VP8IDX (Falk-
lands & /MM) licenses have been issued and are in hand. In just six short
weeks, the team will be making their voyage to South Sandwich Island. Our
ship, the venerable RV Braveheart, is being prepared and loaded for her
long voyage halfway around the world to meet the team in the Falkland
Islands.
We expect to land at South Sandwich and begin operations sometime on
January 17th if sea conditions and weather permit. After ten days at South
Sandwich, we will break camp and voyage three days to South Georgia. We
expect to land and be on the air on February 1st.
This is a =93Pure DX=94 Dxpedition. The team is not mountain climbing or
collecting specimens, our sole focus is getting you in our logs! We will
work very hard to do that!
To date, we have raised $153,500 from the global DX Community. The 14
team members have contributed $210,000 towards our entire budget of
$425,000. If your club or you yourself have not already donated will you
please consider a donation? We cannot get there without you!
