CE0X, SAN FELIX (Update/2017 DXpedition Declared False). The following
(translated) appears on the Radio Club de Chile (CE3AA) Web page at:
www.ce3aa.cl/component/content/article/11629-isla-san-felix-dxpedit=
on
'On September 6, 2016, Radio Club of Chile, represented by its President
Dr. Galdino Besomi, Vice President and Don Jose Tijoux, have held a meeting
with Admiral Don Arturo Undurraga Contra Chief of the First Naval Zone,
whose outcome can inform the Chilean amateur radio community and interested
foreigners in the expedition to Isla San Felix that has been advertised in
various DX news sites and and led by Mr. Felipe Gutierrez, CE5WQO, for
which would have been extended authorization of landing on the island
showing off documents that accredits:
1) That the Navy of Chile considers that such documents are false.
2) The Navy has initiated legal action in this regard.
It is therefore evident that the advertised DXpediton is false and that
besides the alleged widespread authorization by SUBTEL for this purpose
and circulating in different media it would also be false.'

COWS OVER THE WORLD (Update/Disappointment). Tom, KC0W, and his all-CW
'Cows Over the World' DXpeditions have come to a halt at the moment. He
reports on QRZ.com, September 10th: 'My proposed 'Top 25 Most Wanted' DX-
pedition is not going to happen. Sorry for getting anyone's hopes up.
Never trust anyone who claims to be 'military' and who also claims to
have the authority to allow people to visit KHx land. I was hoodwinked
by the promise of tinsel & shiny lights by a purveyor of lies & mis-
truths...........It's now time to crawl under a rock here in Fiji until
I start the T30COW DXpedition. I have been issued 3D2KOW for a 2017
Fiji DXpedition. Nothing new to report regarding permission to visit
Tokelau for the ZK3COW DXpedition. If anyone is interested in DXing from
Tokelau submit all of your paperwork for visitation approval 10+ months
in advance due to new tourist regulations on ZK3 land.'
As this was being written, we have not seen any spots from Tom on
Fiji, so we are not sure if he will operate from there before he goes
to Western Kiribati (T30). If he does, activity will be CW only on 160-6
meters using a K3 with a KPA500 amp (500 watts) into vertical antennas
over salt water. He will be in all major CW contests. He updates his
activities on his upcoming operations on QRZ.com. His updated tentative
schedule is as follows:

Solomon Islands (H44COW): October 25th-November 26th

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE <www.bandconditions.com>:
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called 'HF Ionospheric Interferometry'
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

QSL Manager of NE3H. All cards should be sent to him (NE3H).
VK0EK QSOS FOUNDED (Log Reconciliation). KY6R reports: As promised,
once we received the laptops back from Heard Island, we would reconcile
all laptops with the master N1MM+ log, and more than 100 QSO's have
been recovered. We hope you were the lucky one - and if you have any
questions - please contact our QSL Manager, Tim, M0URX:
https://vk0ek.org/qsl/
We would like to thank Pete, W6OP, and Mike, KJ4Z for their most excellent
efforts finding and recovering these QSO's. The majority were recovered
from a failed laptop that did not sync with the N1MM+ Master log.
ADDED NOTE (VK0EK Featured on Cover of October 2016 QST!): Rich, KY6R,
also reports, 'We are so very proud and thankful for this cover and
very well written article by Leader Bob, KK6EK. Please consider voting

SPECIAL EVENT (Highway to a DX Party!). The Citrus Belt Amateur Radio
Club of San Bernardino, California, is once again hosting (probably one
of the most fun special event activities) the 17th annual 'Route 66 On
The Air' special event between September 10-18th. The purpose of this event
is to offer amateur radio operators a fun way to 'Relive the Ride' of their
own memories of Route 66, and to celebrate the highway's 85th anniversary.
The U.S. Highway 66 established in 1926, was the first major improved
highway to link the west coast with the nations heartland. Through stories,
songs, and TV shows, the highway came to symbolize the spirit of the
freedom of the open road, inspiring many to see America. Look for the
following 21 stations (two are rovers) operating in or around the major
cities along the old 'Route 66' from Santa Monica, California, to Chicago,
Illinois:
